In line with the college’s mission to enhance the quality of its Quantity Surveying programme, educational site visit to Hann’s Residence project at Jalan Wong King Huo, Sibu had been conducted on 15th May 2018. The 1.5 hour site visit was participated by 18 students and 2 lecturers from QS departments.
The main objective of this site visit was to provide an outdoor learning to the students to gain additional knowledge and experience about the highrise building construction.
The project is developed by Musyati Sdn Bhd which involves a total of 416 residential units in two 18-storey blocks, 10 units of three- and six-storey commercial shops and a 48-room boutique hotel. This residence includes a huge range of amenities for its residents such as rooftop badminton courts, gym facilities, infinity pool and sky lounges. The site visit was led by Mr. Chan, the Project Manager from Musyati Sdn Bhd, who explained to students the construction sequences of various building elements. Mr. Chan also showed to the students different stages of substructure and superstructure works of the project that are still in progress.
The students had the experience of seeing themselves the actual construction works from the site visit. This visit indeed was an eye-opening for the students to the real world of building construction.
