Students from various faculties recently attended a workshop on 3D printing technology organized by Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department. The event took place on 27th August 2018 at 2pm.
Ferdinand Wong from Faith 3DP Sdn Bhd, a distributor of Colido 3D printers in Sarawak, introduced the concept of 3D printing, existing technology of FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) & DLP (Digital Light Processing), materials used and relevant software for design and modeling.
He said that 3D printing technology in the world is expected to grow and reach revenue of $12.8 billion in 2018 and exceed $21 billion by 2020.
“3D printing technology has various applications such as concept modeling, functional prototyping, manufacturing tools, end-user parts, medical and so on, presenting the possibility of being successful manufacturer,” he pointed out.
The event was successful and beneficial to the students by exposed them to new technologies thus stimulate them into an avid learner.
