A two-hour site visit was organized by KLT with the aim of exposing students to real-world construction technology and building materials. Approximately 40 students and 5 lecturers visited the ICON Suite construction site at 9 a.m. on November 29, 2024. Upon arrival at the site, a short project briefing was delivered by the project manager, Mr. Alvin Chan. Following the briefing, we were taken to explore the construction site and the showroom.
According to Mr. Alvin Chan, the elevated ground beams are used to create a level platform for the construction of townhouses. This design is a practical and economical solution to ensure the safety and durability of structures built on sloped terrain. During the visit, the students learned about several construction methods and processes. Additionally, they gained an understanding of the project details, including the commencement date, estimated completion date, budget and current progress of the construction work.
This site visit was highly beneficial for all students, offering practical insights into construction practices and materials while enhancing their theoretical understanding.
