“Throughout this 3-year study, it changed my perception towards civil engineers. I realized that actually most of the jobs are related to CE. CE does not only study about the structures in construction. We were being exposed to the important sub-disciplines in CE. We came into contact with the study of fluids (water), weather and etc. Beside academic lessons, study trips organized by our department equipped us with realistic and practical experiences. Also, I appreciated the industry training experience as I gained valuable insights and had the opportunity to learn from the entire construction processes of a building. Through diploma study, I had gained professional knowledge in CE. I can relate my degree study now to what I had learnt in my diploma.”

“Even though a lot of people said that QS jobs will be replaced by software in the future, some of the jobs are not. Site visits will still be needed for interim payments, tendering will still need someone to work out prices, letters of interest drawn up, and so on. It will change a bit but cannot become obsolete with technology in the foreseeable future.”
