A site visitation to construction site was organized by the Quantity Surveying Department of Kolej Laila Taib with the objectives of giving the students more exposure on building materials and construction technology of building. A total of approximately 12 students and 2 lecturers attended the site visit by Majesticplex Housing Development Sdn Bhd. The proposed project is a 10-storey budget hotel.
After arrival to the site, a short brief about the project was given by the Site Supervisor. Students were exposed to see the timber formwork and reinforcement bars for concrete stair. Next, the Site Supervisor guided them to the upper floors where students were given the chance to see different types of materials, such as packets of Portland cement, ceramic tiles, pipes for cold and hot water and etc. Lastly, students raised up their queries regarding the site visit. With sincerity, KLT presented the Site Supervisor a souvenir and photos were taken as a memory.
This site visit is indeed a beneficial trip as students gained valuable insights into real life applications of the theories and knowledge that have been taught in class.
