Students and Lecturers Go On Study Trip

A group of 19 final-year architecture students who accompanied by four lecturers, went on a five-day expedition to Danang, in Vietnam on Sept 1.

The trip was organised to expose students to different cultures through travel and learn from their experiences in the architectural design concepts from another country.

It won praise from the students. One of the participating students felt that the trip was very educational as it was beneficial and an eye-opener when it comes to the architectural world. He hopes the college will host such programmes annually.

Students Attend 3D Printing Workshop

Students from various faculties recently attended a workshop on 3D printing technology organized by Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department.The event took place on 27th August 2018 at 2pm.

Ferdinand Wong from Faith 3DP Sdn Bhd, a distributor of Colido 3D printers in Sarawak, introduced the concept of 3D printing, existing technology of FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) & DLP (Digital Light Processing), materials used and relevant software for design and modeling.

He said that 3D printing technology in the world is expected to grow and reach revenue of $12.8 billion in 2018 and exceed $21 billion by 2020.

“3D printing technology has various applications such as concept modeling, functional prototyping, manufacturing tools, end-user parts, medical and so on, presenting the possibility of being successful manufacturer,” he pointed out.

The event was successful and beneficial to the students by exposed them to new technologies thus stimulate them into an avid learner.
